You are a Light

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

- Matthew 5:14-16

That’s my prayer for you and my heart for this account. I pray that we would be in such close relationship with God that we would all radiate his light and that we wouldn’t be afraid to shine it! 

What does it mean for us to be the light? To be the light is to radiate the essence of who God is through who we are. It’s the glimpses of joy people see by our love of Jesus. It is what makes us stand out of the crowd (light shines brightest in the darkness.) It is being set apart from the world and leading others to Christ in doing so. 

The light we shine radiates God‘s glory to the people around us. Everyone who sees it begins to see hope, grace, love, and ultimately God. The closer we get to Jesus the more that light is able to shine. This is because, by being in relationship with him-we are connected to the source of life. 

We are called to be the light that shines in the darkness so that through us people may see the hope that is only found in God. 

Don’t be afraid to let your light shine!
